• They function differently.the charge and play kit you plug in.the charging station the controller just sits right down on the charging station.the contact's are different.

• yes, I believe so I don't own the charging station been thinking about getting it so i can charge more than one controller at the same time.

• No. The charging station is Xbox Approved, licensed, whatever you wanna call it. But it’s made by another company. The batter packs in this kit are made by Xbox. But the dock comes with its own battery packs so that’s all you need.
