• The best way would be through USB type C. Dell has a USB type C monitor that displays and powers your device at the same time, so you don't always have to unplug your power adapter each time when you go somewhere.

• While Surface Laptop 3 does not come with an HDMI port it does have both a USB-C and USB-A port that you can use with a HDMI adapter.

• There is no hdmi port but you can buy an adapter for hdmi to usb-c that will work well if you want to spend the money.
