It should be noted that the SP3 has a micro SD card slot and I installed a 64GB SDXC memory card, making a total of 128 GB of space available. I have installed MS Office Pro as well as numerous other pieces of software and multiple apps from the MS app store. Of the 128 GB, I have nearly 80 GB left at the moment. The Surface Pro 3 also has a USB slot where you can plug flash drives and external hard drives into it. I bought a multiple USB adapter that gives me 4 ports. The docking station has an ethernet plug as well as multiple USB 2 and USB 3 slots on it. You can also make use of a cloud drive service like DropBox or Microsoft OneDrive to store files, but not applications. I realize I did not answer your specific question, but I did not check the device when I received it to see how much HDD space was available before I started installing software.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.After the OS is installed, you are around 30GB. They do have a micro SD slot to use so you can install programs to that. I believe you can get micro SD's up to 128 GB. I purchased a 32 GB to install applications and use it for profiles.
