• Hello there, The Touch/Type Covers for the Surface tablets are not Bluetooth. You would need the Wireless Adapter to wirelessly connect Touch and Type Covers to any Surface tablet. I hope this was helpful to you.

• It cannot be used when detached from the Surface. It does not have a built in power source and is not Bluetooth enabled. It connects to the bottom of the Surface with magnets and a series of metallic pins. As soon as you physically disconnect the two, it stops working.

• No, it needs to be attached to the tablet to have a power source to work. it does connect extremely easy

• No Bluetooth. The connector appears to be designed specifically for the Surface Pro 3. Too bad, too, because it's a great accessory!
