• Not necessarily. First of all, you can go to the Windows website and download a compatibility assistant program. That will tell you exactly which programs will work and which will not. However, you might have to reinstall all of your programs (I did).

• Generally, they should work with Win8. If you're in doubt about a program's compatibility, go to the software vendor's site and look at their system requirements. You can always do a Google search for your program name and Win8 compatibility and see what others have said.
