Thanks for your reply. It took some digging but I did find that the Xbox controller is not compatible with charging through the micro USB connection with standard rechargeable batteries. You have to use a rechargeable battery pack designed for this purpose. The reason is to prevent users from overcharging or providing a charge to batteries placed in the controller. If you have the proper rechargeable battery pack installed you can charge through the UBS port or depending on the system purchased use a charging stand.
