hit the sync button on the system then hold the one on the controller till it stops flashing.. or directly connect it using a usb

Press the sync button on the front of the xbox, then press the small sync button on the controller (on top next to the usb port on the controller). The xbox icon and controller should flash a couple of times then be sync'd.
