Itll be overkill if you’d do that. Just use the traditional usb type a to type c cable as provided. You could just use a regular old charger as well to charge it separate from the xbox.

Yes, the controller will only pull the amount of current that it needs from the charger. If the controller wants 5W and the charger is 20W, the charger will only output 5W of power. If the controller wants 20W of power but the charger can only do 5W, then the controller will receive 5W of power. I hope this helps.
