So I tested this myself, and No it does not work. The Xbox Series controller has terminals for standard or rechargeable AA batteries to power the controller. But this time there are some smaller pins for a rechargeable battery pack and these will charge a battery from the USB-C port. But as they are between where AA batteries (rechargeable or not) sit they won't charge rechargeable AA batteries. My guess is this decision was made so that someone didn't inadvertently try to "recharge" non-rechargeable AA batteries as that would be a problem.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It most likely should be able to, I haven't tested this out myself but it worked for me on my old xbox controller.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Rechargeable AA batteries must be charged separately. To recharge batteries in your controller, we recommend investing in a Rechargeable Battery and USB-C Cable for Xbox Series X/S.
