• Yes u can, blu- Ray is basically a high definition video and sound " dvd".

• Mine plays both Blueray and dvd although you will need to download the player, install it, reboot it, reboot it again, troubleshoot it then make sure that you have the right display settings selected and then reboot it again. But once you get it working it works fine.
