The card provides you with a temporary number first than if you want to continue you can transfer your own or keep the temp number.

Hey there, thanks for reaching out. When you swap your SIM for our trial, you'll be given a temporary test number. If it turns out we're Mint to be, you can then transfer your existing number during the activation process. Just select “Transfer My Number” during your activation. As long as your phone is compatible, you can bring your device. Check compatibility here: mintmobile.com/byop/#compatible
