Oh hello! Thank you for your question-- this piece is Laminate with high-grade MDF. In the traditional sense of refinishing, MDF furniture cannot be done (you cannot sand away the original finish and apply a coat of stain). However, if you're looking to paint, you can rough the Laminate surface with sand paper to get the primer and paint to adhere the properly. Hopefully this helps make your decision! Thank you!
