The distance your home is from the stations (channel) broadcast tower determines what antenna is best. Some of the antennas you can buy give a mile estimate on how far away the broadcast tower can be for good reception from that antenna. My experience is that the miles number on the package is conservative. For example, a 25 mile antenna could work if the broadcast tower is 35 miles away.
