If you want a full featured smart phone I suggest you consider three price points. For about $90 you get entry level. For around $250 you can get a phone that does everything. Flagship phones that do everything the best are priced at $900-1200. Most can be financed through the major carriers. I am 63 years old and have owned some kind of smart phone since the early oughts. The learning curve is steep for those in my generation. Good luck and enjoy!

If this is the case, there is a specific group of phone for the elderly called, humor in wording, a 'Butterfly' cell phone. Any carrier rep knows of these phones, and will bring you to them. Doro, is a good make for these types of phones, as they do nothing but make and receive calls. Texting is also pretty technical for some seniors, and these do do that. Doro makes a flip phone, nothing fancy at all. If its a learning curve to want to do things on it, then I think the G5 will work as expected. The lower end of cell phones for Moto, and low in price too. Being that the person had limited knowledge of these type phones, then the entry level cheap will work.
