My old Moto G3 would cast flawlessly with the little Chromecast device and my new Moto X acts no different. There probably could be an app out there that you can fiddle with but nobody likes to fiddle with stuff these days. I am not familiar with what mhl compatibility is. I haven't been able to cast anything to my Samsung smart TV yet. But if I plugged in the Chromecast it would be no issue. Haven't tried Roku yet.
