“Three questions: What is the chassis made of? Is the chassis unibody? I've heard that the plastic trim can be fragile. Has anyone experienced this trim cracking or breaking with normal use?”

MSI GS66 body is made of Aluminum (where the screen is) and what appears to be plastic for the underside. I have not had my unit long enough to say whether it will crack or not. The unit appears to be well constructed but does not seam too rugged (so I would recommend being gentile with it). The one thing I do not like is how the bezel and screen are attached to the computer (the double sided tape seams a bit too weak). I experienced that issue within two weeks of owning the computer. My guess is; due to heat build up, the tape adhesive softens up too much. The result being the bezel and screen pull away from the bottom right hinge. I had to remedy this issue by reinforcing things with a third party double sided tape (designed for electronic devices and the heat that will naturally build up) and applying it to the loose area. I feel that the MSI should have been better assembled with stronger adhesive (Due to the MSI being a higher end computer, the consumer should not have been tasked with correcting this problem). I tend to use my computer most of the time using an external monitor and with the screen clam shelled shut (So that might explain the extra heat). Regarding the chassis being a unibody, I'm not familiar enough with that design to accurately confirm this or not.

I've had it for 6 weeks and have barely done much of anything with it and it already has a tiny chip in one of the corners of the frame. I'm not particularly bothered by it and generally speaking the thing appears to be fairly sturdy, but admittedly may not want to test that conclusion. Hope that helps!
