• Unfortunately, no, the 2017 Gear VR uses a USB Type C connector for power to the headset and this charger has a Micro USB connector. You could still use it, but would have to get a Female Micro USB top Male USB Type C adapter that will work with Quick Charge for it to work.

• Works great with the new VR I do not know about the Note 8 since I don't have one yet. But if the note 8 connects to the VR then it should work because the external battery connects to the VR not the phone.
