“I have a nest hello doorbell and it keeps coming on and off line. I'm pretty certain that the reason it's doing so is because it looses the signal or the upload speed is too slow (I've noticed some video lag). Can this work with a combo modem router?”

Nest Wifi is not compatible with some modem/router combos. It might cause a Double NAT where both Nest Wifi and your combo broadcast their own private networks which can cause connectivity issues. If you want to create a bigger Wi-Fi Mesh network, you can put your modem/router combo in Bridge mode or disable its Wi-Fi functionality to avoid connection issues.
