You can easily set up Nest Wifi in minutes and manage it in the Google Home app alongside your other connected devices. You can check this link for the requirements and the setup process: https://support.google.com/wifi/answer/9548301 You can check the following support link to see an estimate of how many Google Nest Wifi units you would need to cover both your house and barn: https://support.google.com/wifi/answer/7182840 Regarding wiring, you need to wire one Nest Wifi router to the WAN port of your modem to set it up as the primary router. You can then connect additional Nest Wifi routers or points wirelessly to extend the coverage. You can also place a Nest Wifi router in the barn wired to the primary router with an Ethernet cable if you choose to. You can't use your current router and extender in a Wi-Fi mesh with Nest Wifi or Google Wifi units. If you still want to utilise them, you can use as a switch by turning off the Wi-Fi functionality.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I purchased two nests. It covers 3500 sq feet of my house plus extends outside at least an extra 150 feet. (Probably more I just haven't tried it...) You could always start with the 2 nests and then buy a third if you need it :)
