I have this booster as well as (unfortunately) the Cox Panoranic router/modem. The short answer is yes. I was able to extend our 2.5G and 5G wireless networks using the exact same SSID's. The instructions tell you how to do it and it DOES NOT put an EXT on the boosted signals. You can roam within your confines and your wireless devices will automatically switch to the strongest signal without a hitch. One side note.... I did a wireless upload/download speed test before AND after I added the booster to my network. For me I found that after adding it I had stronger signals to the far reaches of my house/yard but it seems as if the device robs a little bit of the total wireless bandwidth capabilities even when I'm right next to my Cox router. I took a hit in the overall wireless download/upload speeds for getting a stronger signal in the weak areas. I'm still using the booster and am happy with it's performance so far....
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can choose to keep the same network name WITHOUT the _EXT or you can choose to use the _EXT. Be sure and download the software from Netgear and it will walk you through the set up. Plus you can reconfigure anytime you want to.
