can I use this for wifi without having a internet provider? I am looking for an extender to wifi without having to sign up with a cable company.

No.. you must have internet... that was what I thought too. big mustake. you can get your neighbor to set it up for you if they have internet and it will work on their router, and give you a strong wifi in your home.. but they end up with the extender and you might want to work something out with them.

To have internet signal so wifi can be transmitted requires internet provider service. Wifi extender just extends the service
