If you can connect it to their router and have it plugged in closer to yourself this will strengthen your signal.

It will need to be in the same room with the main router for initial set up and then moved to a location where you need the boost. Depending on the wall socket layout and your distance from the main router signal it should help boost your signal. Understand that walls/metal/other electronic equipment in the same general area may reduce or block your signal all together. For information related to your particular situation I suggest checking with the electronics expert for that department.
