• If you can connect it to their router and have it plugged in closer to yourself this will strengthen your signal.

• It will need to be in the same room with the main router for initial set up and then moved to a location where you need the boost. Depending on the wall socket layout and your distance from the main router signal it should help boost your signal. Understand that walls/metal/other electronic equipment in the same general area may reduce or block your signal all together. For information related to your particular situation I suggest checking with the electronics expert for that department.
