Maybe. Its a similar situation that I have. I have it placed in the corner of my shop where I just get a signal. Then I have my Roku stick paired to it so I can listen to music or watch tv. I get a signal good enough to stream in HD without any issues. I don't think it would handle any serious gaming but for youtube and netflix, it works great.

So, the extender should provider a stronger wifi signal but at a reduced speed. I suggest you go into best Buy and discuss all the issues. This is an easy setup but you need to make sure you have adequate speed (in mbps) to support the streaming that I expect you want to do on your smart TV. There are several variable issues in this type pf setup and you need to do your homework before you race out and buy and extender.
