Our router is upstairs over the garage and we put the extender downstairs in the center of the house. It has satisfied our needs nicely.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. After setting up the extender in the room where the modem is, then move the extender to a place that is about half way to the area that is getting poor reception. Then plug in the extender. If all the lights are green you are good to go. If the internet light is yellow or red after it cycles after plugging it in, then you have to move it closer to the modem. For instance if your modem is in the basement and you want the extender on the second floor, you may get a yellow internet light. You will probably need to put the extender on the first floor.
