Is it possible to buy just a base without a camera? null

If you have a newer Netgear wireless router such as the Nighthawk then you can use that router as a base and you will only need to purchase the cameras individually. Confirm with your hardware for compatibility.

No, the cameras are a vital role to the system.

Not yet but I hear they're going to make them available. I have mounts from some other cameras that work fine. Maybe try a different manufacturer until they release them.
