Somewhere in between where signal stregth from router is relatively strong and in position to broadcast sufficiently to your garage. In my case cable router/wifi router are in front of house. This Extender is 50' away at the back of the house and throws a 3-bar signal to my shop 75' away on the other opposite side of my garage.
