“So we are about to get 25 mbps internet. I would be using this strictly for gaming with my PC directly wired into it. my room is probably 25 feet from the router. I was considering an ethernet cable directly from the router but it is just too far. Thanks!”

The extender will not improve the speed of your internet over 25 Mbps even though it is capable of much higher speeds. 25 ft away from the router would probably work (depending on the obstacles).
