“will this work in a building about 250 feet from my house where the internet connection is wired in to a modem and i am trying to use a wireless scan tool for automotive diagnosis in my out building will this extend the wireless that far if not what will”

Unfortunately that all depend on the materials and wiring in the walls of both buildings, as well as the initial signal strength of your current router. You may want to consider just replacing your router with one that has a better range.
