And I think my ancient router was a Cisco & the WAP security. I'm truly not very knowledgeable about all this - but the staff at the Best Buy we went to was & this is what they recommended. I thought it was a little on the expensive side - but hubby said to buy it, so I did. Instructions pretty much walk you through (on paper, then on-screen on your computer. I think there was an 800# (for the manufacturer) on the literature to call if you have problems installing it. They will assist at no charge. If I remember correctly, the Geek Squad may also help for the 1st few days (like 30 maybe??? Not sure though.) I'm truly happy that we went with this one, it has worked wonderfully for us!!! Note: there are even MORE expensive ones that may be better, but this one (on the main floor) solved ALL our Wi-Fi issues on the lower level (accessible by going outside & down the stairs).
