It should. But remember it may depend on the provider as well. The ports are all gigabit. Since you stated the connection before the router is a gig then it's possibly the router you are using. I actually get more than what my provider tells me I have by at least 5-8 Mbps sometimes. It depends on time of day as well.

As long as u have a gig dw. U get it through wired connection. I would test the modem first to make sure u do get a gig directly from the modem and than go from there.

Has to be a new router that have ports able to carry a 1 Gb speed, or you will not get the full speed across the network, wired or wireless
