Probably overkill. My house is about 4500 sq ft. with three levels and I have the 3-pk. I have one for each level. Router in basement and then the two satellites on the two upper levels. Save the money, because it should cover you fine with 2-pk. You will have more versatility with a 3-pk depending on where you'd like to place the units, but other than that I don't see any reason to spend more money. So, if you need that second satellite for the versatility of placement then go for it.
