• I replaced an old Nighthawk R7000 with the Orbi system. The old R7000 has two USB ports. The new Orbi has no USB ports. I had no luck using the R7000 firmware to just bridge the R7000 to the Orbi. I did find and flash the R7000 with 3rd party firmware, and now access the network storage flawlessly over a bridge.

• Don’t know about USB but I have an Apple Time Capsule connected to the satellite unit via Ethernet and it’s fully accessible across the network.

• The Orbi router system supports external hard drive connections via Ethernet. The USB port is on some models to support a ReadyShare printer: https://kb.netgear.com/000044724/How-do-I-connect-a-USB-printer-to-my-Orbi-router
