Funny you should ask as I just set up mine this past week. Initially, I had the TWC Arris TG1672 Router and was getting very slow speeds from the Orbi so I got rid of the TWC router and, in its place, put in a Netgear CM600 modem. I've got quite the set up with the Modem connected to the Orbi and the Orbi is connected to a pretty serious network switch which has a printer, Hue hub, Iris hub, a Mac, a Digital Storm PC, Sonos system, Vonage (soon to be Ooma) VoIP phone system and, finally, a Sprint Airave box connected to the switch. On the wireless end, I've got three Smart TVs, two IPads, two IPhones, a Macbook and two cameras utilizing the Orbi Satellite. The speed from the Orbi router and Satellite blazes. I'm now getting an average of 117.5 Mbps download and 11-16 Mbps upload from both the Orbi router and the satellite. I have the TWC 100 meg package. The distance is impressive as well as I can connect to my home network three blocks away and this is in an older home with stucco walls which eats WiFi and cell signals for breakfast. So, to make a long answer longer, you shouldn't have any issues once you go through the set up. If you have phone service with TWC, make sure you keep the service until you port over your numbers with the new service.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Orbi does not include a modem. It is strictly a router system. You will still need a separate modem to plug it into. If your current TWC modem has a router included and you would like to keep that router turned on, you do have the option of setting up the Orbi in Access Point mode following these instructions: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/31218/~/how-do-i-configure-my-orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point%3F?cid=wmt_netgear_organic.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have spectrum modem and Orby router and satellite. I have not been happy at all and I don’t know if it is the fault of spectrum modem that is making Internet runs so slow (which I suspect it is.) or the Orbi. I think the Orbi would be fine but Spectrum has a terrible speed even though they advertise speeds greater than they are. So don’t count the Orbi out just yet maybe Time Warner cable will be better. And I’m sure the Orbi has a return policy if you find it is not working well hope that helps
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I still had to have my Comcast modem/router, but had them put it into "bridge mode" - so that it functions as the modem to get the signal to the router if that makes sense. This is a router setup, not a modem/router.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You have to have a Modem. I replaced the TWC modem with my own Motorola Cable Modem and the connected Orbi to it. Works great. No more TWC Modem and no 10 dollar monthly fee. You do have to contact TWC when you setup your own modem because the need to put the MAC address from your modem into their system.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It doesn't replace the modem just makes it stronger. It works great it made my horrible time Warner internet unbelievablely fast
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We have time warner/ Spectrum with an internet phone with modem. Orbi worked fine on our system but because of the phone I left the modem in place. I Think Orbi is just a router and not a modem so you can't ditch the Time Warner equipment.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Orbi system doesn't provide a modem. Its a router. You plug the Orbi base station into the TWC router and generate a wifi signal from it through the Orbi.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I too have Time Warner router with built in wifi. You need to call TW and have them turn off wifi on your modem as it will just interfere with Orbi.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't have TW but I have set it up with Verizon / Frontier FIOS. Basically you have 2 options with any cable provider: 1) attached the Orbi to the cable modem via ethernet cable (modem to Orbi WAN port) and put the Orbi in AP mode (in the advance menu). This will turn off the router functions and allow it to act as an Wireless Access Point, allowing you to get your DHCP IP's from the TW modem. What you do lose is all the Orbi's advanced QoS / Firewall / Parental Controls features. Oh don't forget to turn off the wifi on the cable modem (don't want both wifi signals if you don't need it). 2) This option will only work with TW if they offer an ethernet drop for you WAN / Internet connection. For instance Verizon / Frontier FIOS you can have either Coax cable for internet or Ethernet CAT5. I always choose the ethernet as it allows me to use any router I want. Some companies though don't offer this so, you'll forced to use option 1. If you do have an ethernet (cat 5) drop from TW (i.e. this is not a CAT5 from a router its from street, ONT box or junction) then you could connect the CAT5 to the Orbi's WAN port. Then the Orbi becomes your router. You will need to take the MAC address from the Orbi and provide it to TW to activate it, I believe. [Note: with this setup on Verizon's network without their router / modem you don't get VOD / PPV services for any set top boxes, so if you want those features then option is the only choice.] Hope that helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
