The Orbi will cover up to 4000 sq ft and will use one wifi name. Orbi will automatically shift your device from each device depending on what gives the strongest signal.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This unit comes with a Router and a Satellite (which is an extender) which share the same SSID that will cover a two story house 4k sq. ft. house, easy. This unit may be overkill for a 2k house but if you're anything like my family with multiple tablets, WiFi Smart TVs, laptop, phones etc this unit will prioritize who gets online without the buffering. The only drawback is no Guest account but I reached out to Netgear and that's on its way as a software upgrade soon. Hope this helps, btw I live in a ranch style house on a cul-de-sac where my mailbox is over 500 ft away from the house and I still get 2 bars out of the four bars on WiFi signal in front of the mailbox.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have this system in a 2300 sqft home and have full signal throughout my house. That is correct you will only have one wifi network name. I have loved that I don't have to deal with two wireless network names. It is seamless across my place.
I would recommend:
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There's only one name and I'm covering 2,560 square feet with this with strong signal everywhere. The placement of the router and the satellite are the key. The satellite only needs to plug in, so you can place it anywhere you don't mind seeing it. If it has a strong connection to the router, you will blanket your house well using the two.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it will. One network name (SSID) for both 5 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz connections. Put the Orbi Router where your router is now and the satellite in the center of your home to start with.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, The Orbi has a primary base and a satellite, but it is one mesh network with one network name. It is not the same as a range extender (although, I should also note you can usually give a range extender the same name as your primary wifi network). However, the Orbi may be overkill for a 2000sf home.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Absolutely! I have a 2900 sq ft house and this gives complete coverage with one wifi name.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Orbi router and its satellite's signal are transmitting throughout our 2,400 square foot house with only 1 Wi-Fi name.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It should cover most houses that size--I'm currently using it in a 2500 sq. ft. house with great results. And, yes, one of the nice things about this product is you can broadcast one SSID (your WiFi name) everywhere. That way your phones and tablets can seamlessly connect to the unit with the strongest signal without you having to change anything on the device like selecting a different SSID.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. That's one of the advantages of this system versus a basic range extender, with the ORBI it's all the same wifi name. Plus, if you desire, you can pick up the satellite unit and move it according to you needs. It only takes 1-2 minutes for it to reconnect with the main router.
