This satellite can only talk wirelessly back to an Orbi Router. This is an add-on satellite (extender) for an existing Orbi Router system. The Orbi Router (sold seperately) can be used in AP mode with a Cable modem Router combo and not change anything with your current setup, but I would consider turning off the wireless and routing functions in the router part of the cable modem and just let the Orbi Router handle the Routing functions instead. Depends on which routing functions you want more, those provided by the existing cable modem/router, or those that could be provided by the Orbi Router.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Orbi router is compatible with virtually any Ethernet-capable modem. It just needs to plug into the modem directly via Ethernet cable.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use Spectrum cable and it works well. Only when the Spectrum modem slows down I reset by unplugging cable and power for 20sec and it back to 350-400 Mbps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Orbi satellite was designed to connect directly to the Orbi router. The router itself can absolutely be connected to the modem, however.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I own the Orbi and it's is hooked up to the Arris 3.0 modem. Works perfectly! Great system the Orbi. Love it. Finally no buffering and high download speeds no matter where I am in my three floor home.
