I did Ethernet backhaul and it significantly improved my WiFi strength. It was already really good before that though, but it is amazing now.

es, you can hard wire & it has many benefits. Many people mistake the fact that just because these are WIFI devices, that EVERYTHING should be wireless. Not so. You CAN use these via wireless-only and in some situations that is the best solution. Although if you have the option to do the back haul via a wired connection, you will potentially:

Increase the WIFI throughput to your devices (phones, tablets, etc)
Make your device run cooler because it doesn't have to transmit on another radio.
Clean up the airwaves for your neighbors (minor issue today)

Most wired connections have the potential to run 2x the throughput of WIFI. As WIFI speeds increase this will matter less, but up until now wired has always been the reliable, steady, drop-free method of transmitting data. Remember, if you've placed a satellite in a location of the building that needs better coverage, that suggest that the satellite itself MAY have marginal ability to relay your data to the base station. 

Having said this, remember each install has its unique challenges and needs to be addressed with the technology that gives the greatest benefit. -Best Wishes on your install.

You can - but keep in mind it will be a significant performance loss. the ethernet ports are 1.0 gbps while the wireless backhaul @ 5g is 2.4gps. even at half strength it's still going to be as fast as ethernet. So I wouldn't recommend doing ethernet backhaul unless you are really having backhaul performance issues.. also note the length the wifi signal can travel is just as long as maximum ethernet runs without copper degradation limitations. So unless you have an odd situation like a 3ft cement walled panic room which might warrant an ethernet backhaul for the satellite; you should probably stick with the wifi backhaul.

the other person commented that their wifi was better with an ethernet backhaul - that wouldn't be because of ethernet unless the devices were so far away they wifi backhaul was failing.
