I actually don't know. I just purchased the device so that my television in a remote area area of my house could be connected. If I were you, I would contact Powerline company. I would register your device with the company and submit an email question. You probably will be best served by using exactly the same question that you posed to Best Buy customers. I actually did that. But I figured out the answer to my question before they responded. I would actually be interested in the response that the company gives you in case I ever wanted to use my 1200 adapter for a more robust application.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Check an internet search for "speedguide" they have a fairly simple utility program that can adjust networking parameters on a PC for you. Mostly you have to set the bandwidth (10mb for an adapter like this), click the "optimal" button, apply (pressing OK once or twice), then reboot. Oh, and before running the software, right click it and select "run as administrator" as network parameters are blocked from user-level software changes. I'd link the URL, but I suspect this review page does not like foreign URL postings.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.is your wifi overriding your ethernet connection? Normally, the computer will auto switch and default to hard connection over wifi but you could have two conflicting network connections. Try turning off wifi if you haven't done that yet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. It is highly unlikely that any powerline 1200 adapter can match a 5Ghz 1300+ ac since it will likely max out at around 300mbps while the wifi will over around 750~800mbps. Then again, 5Ghz performance decreases dramatically with the distance from the router and the presence of walls and other obstacles.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No you are probably set up correctly. I was fooled into thinking that having the direct hookup would work better and I got the same results as you. since wi fi waves travel up not down to get the best results you should try to have your router on a lower floor. than your tv. or at least have it lower than the tv.
