“I have a lorenx security system the only way you can hook it up to the internet is thru the ethernet port.. my wifi router is in the other side of the house. If I buy this can I hook it up to my security system and router.. and have wifi to security sys.”

It all depends on the distance between your router and the surveillance recorder. This device is not powerful enough for big areas. Also if there is any kind of radio interference then the signal may not be as good. I suggest you hardwire your connection. Specially for surveillance systems.
