I have some devices in my home which do not have wireless capability. And, I do not have ethernet cabling installed in my somewhat old-construction house. That is why I purchased a pair of Netgear Powerline 1200 units. My configuration of the Netgear Powerline 1200 has two units. One unit is located near my Router. That unit plugs into a 120 volt AC outlet near the Router. And, for data purposes I connect that unit to my Router using an ethernet cable. In the room where my non-wireless device is located I have a second Netgear Powerline unit. It is plugged into a 120 volt AC outlet near the non-wireless device. For data purposes I connect my non-wireless device to the Netgear Powerline unit using an ethernet cable. There is a simple one-time setup procedure that involves pressing a button on each of the Powerline units within a two minute time span. I think of this procedure as being similar to the pairing that I would perform with Bluetooth devices. The essence of this configuration is that it lets me bring a wired ethernet connection to just about any part of the house where I have a 120 volt AC outlet. I end up with the same experience as if I plugged my non-wireless device ethernet cable directly into the Route -- perhaps with a slightly slower connection speed. This configuration avoids any need for me (or my Electrician) to pull ethernet cables from where the Router is located to the room where my non-wireless device is located. I will leave it to you to decide if this configuration is going to meet your needs. END
