I don't know for sure but I think I would use it myself. It is Fast, sharp and has a good reach

I think you should equip yourself with 2 lenses if possible. However regardless, I'd go with the 70-200 2.8. This is a fast lens with the zoom capability to shoot down court. It also allows you to open wide enough to get enough light in. Second lens would be the 24-70 2.8. Great for closer shots under the basket as well. Very fast and sharp lens.
