The winner is almost always the Nikon 85mm 1.8 for any portraits indoors or out in our opinion and for under $500 bucks. WOW! That said a very similar photo can be achieved with the 50mm 1.8 using your 810 and you can be about arms length from the infant with the 50mm. If you have an assistant to work with the baby I would still shoot with the 85. Both are very affordable lenses and I recommend you pack them both in your backpack. .
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.50 mm without doubts
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would go with a 50mm for the nice blur in the depth of field you often want in outdoor especially and indoor photos to make you subject stand out!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.50mm. Definitely 50mm. the 85mm is a great lens, but you need a lot of room between you and the subject. I recommend to start with the 50mm, it's less expensive anyways, and go from there.

Please try again later. The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Standard Lens listed here will work wonderfully with the Nikon D810 FX-format DSLR camera to provide amazing portraits and group shots, both indoors and out. This AF-S 50mm lens has a maximum angle of view of 47° in FX-format and has a low aperture to help you capture low light situations with stunning brilliance. In comparison, the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G Medium Telephoto Lens has a maximum angle of view of 28°30' in FX-format, allowing you to be a bit further away from the subject to capture incredibly vivid and detailed images, even in low light. Both of these prime lenses would make a significant addition to any growing DSLR camera bag.
