If you want good blurred backgrounds in your portraits, then this is your lens, not the standard (zoom) lenses.

Please try again later.I'm hoping you meant 18-55mm/f3.5-5.6G and 55-200mm/f4-5.6. 50mm f1.8 will make a huge difference in terms of depth of field, it's a great lens to start getting into photography and portraits especially. Highly recommend. General rule of thumb, primes lens are generally superior in quality than zooms lens.
