The Nikon COOLPIX AW130 digital camera offers up two scenes modes for taking images at night. One is "Night Portrait", which allows you to take portraits of a large number of people at night, or images at night where there is a large background. Another is the handheld option for "Night Landscape" which allows you to capture a series of images when the shutter-release button is pressed fully down. These images are then combined into a single image and saved. When using the Tripod option in "Night Landscape" only one image is captured at a slow shutter speed when the shutter-release button is pressed all the way. These options will allow you to get amazing images of any night time landscape or sky subjects. If you are looking to take closer images of stars and sky you may want to look into the all-new Nikon COOLPIX A900 digital camera, which offers up three options for taking time lapse images of the stars in addition to the Scenes "Night Landscape" and "Night Portrait".
