Both the D5500 and the D3400 have amazing features to offer for photographers but they are quite different from one another. A major difference to note is that the Nikon D5500 has a vari-angle touch screen and eye sensor; the Nikon D3400 does not. Another important difference is that the D5500 has 39 Autofocus points while the Nikon D3400 has 11 Autofocus points. One thing the D3400 has, that the D5500 does not, is a Guide Mode that teaches you how to take a great image and lets you know what options are best for each subject. Both cameras offer up a wide variety of scenes, special effects and in-camera editing tools. Whichever one you decide upon you are sure to enjoy having the power to capture moments with it.
