“I had a Nikon a few years ago with a feature called D-lighting. It was GREAT for interior shots that had a shot of light from a window; it evened out the variations in dark and light very well. Does this camera have that? Or what models do?”

Yes, this camera does have D-Lighting

One is Active D-Lighting, which is able to be turned on and used as you're shooting an image. Another is a D-Lighting option that can be found in the retouch menu, which allows you to brighten shadows in images after they have been taken.
