The Nikon D3500 DX-format DSLR camera does not have a built-in focus motor so AF-type lenses, like the Nikon AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8 D lens, will need to be manually focused. This Nikon D3500 camera kit listed here comes with a Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens, which has a built-in pulse motor for smooth and quiet focus. For other lenses that have a built-in autofocus motor check out AF-S type lenses.
