A phone will do fine for blogs and many photos in many situations, but the tiny sensors and fixed lenses can';t compete with the the large sensors and pixels of a real camera. Dynamic range, spillover to adjacent pixels, and noise are issues with all sensors, but decrease with the size of the pixels. Around 8 meg resolution seems to be the optimum compromise of these 4 components in the tiny sensors in phones.
