The cord is 5 feet long. Having the same concern, I purchased a USB extension just in case. It doesn’t have to be plugged into the console though. I added a charging block to the end and I plug it into an outlet right next to me while sitting on the couch. Works great!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can buy a longer cable, but I wouldn't recommend it. The charging while playing isn't really effective and with something really intensive (say the latest Zelda or the Outer worlds) you actually still have a bit of a drain, although its slower. It doesn't really take that long to fully charge the joycons, so I'd just pop them on your charging handle or the switch, let them power back up to full and go from there.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The cable is about 3 to 4 ft in length, however, you don't have to keep the grip plugged into the cable to play. After about 3 hours of charging, I remove it from the cable and play with it for about up to 3 full days before recharging.
