• Only needs to be plugged in to charge. Otherwise its wireless play. So far mine is great!

• Yes you can use it without the cord. You only need the cord when charging.

• You do not have to keep it on the charger to use it. I keep mine charging for about 3 hours, and then I simply unplug it, and play! It lasts a good 3 days before I have to recharge.
