Nintendo is thinking ahead into the future, it may not be that a 2TB SD card has been released however it can hand up to 2TB when it gets released!

They claim because they built the switch to be compatible with up to 2tb, which yes those arnt made yet, however they plan on you using the console for many years, and 2tb sd cards are being created, just not available for purchase yet. so yeah its stinks but they will work when released. I think its good the company wanted to plan ahead.

Actually larger SD cards are available but the price currently prevents the market sales of them. I've seen up to 2 TB SD cards, but they are a rediculous price. They will come down.

Because the system is expandable to 2TB. Devices have a maximum amount they can support up to. The Switch is 2TB.
